How to back up and search your Threads posts
Threads Archive is a utility for people who want a searchable copy of their own Threads posts and replies without storing that archive on someone else's server.
What you can back up
Threads Archive connects to your Threads account and imports your own posts and replies using the Threads API. The archive includes text, timestamps, permalinks, post/reply metadata, and raw API payloads when available.
The app is designed for your own Threads history. It is not a tool for downloading other people's Threads data or scraping public profiles.
How to make a local Threads backup
- Open Threads Archive.
- Click “Connect Threads” and authorize the requested Threads permissions.
- Click “Sync now” to import your own posts and replies into this browser.
- Use “Export” to download a JSON backup file that you can save elsewhere.
How to search your Threads history
After syncing, use the search box to find matching posts and replies stored in your local browser archive. You can filter by posts, replies, and date range, then open a result to inspect its metadata and raw payload.
Where your backup is stored
Imported Threads data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. Threads Archive does not keep your imported posts, replies, raw payloads, or search index in a central server database.
Because the archive is browser-local, clearing site data or switching devices can remove access to it unless you export a backup first.
How to delete your local Threads archive
- Open Threads Archive in the browser where you synced your data.
- Click “Delete local data.”
- Confirm the deletion prompt.
You can also click “Disconnect” to clear the app session cookie, or clear all site data for threads-archive.com in your browser settings.
Limitations
Threads API availability, permissions, rate limits, and returned fields are controlled by Meta and may change over time. Threads Archive should be treated as a practical backup and search utility, not as a guarantee that every possible piece of Threads account data is available through the API.
